Muehlenbeckia complexa
A deciduous climber usually growing to 30cm if given no support, but can reach up to a few meters if given something to climb on. Its dense, wiry stems are covered in delicate looking round leaves which are the main attraction. Its small white flowers can be seen from April to May, which mature into small, inedible white fruits.
This plant can either be grown over pot edges to trail down, in a pot against a wall with some support, as we have done at our house, or grown at the base of a hedge where it can scramble up, as we recently saw in Dublin Zoo.
This plant likes a moist soil in partial shade.
