Selfheal is a creeping native Irish perennial, also known as Duán ceannchosach. Growing only up to 20cm tall, its hairy leaves and candle-like flowerheads are very attractive. The tubular, violet flowers appear all around the upright flowerstems from June to September in between purplish bracts. In the wild its often seen in short grass, making it a perfect plant for a short wildflower area, or in a rockery or edge of a garden.
