Broussonetia papyrifera
A large shrub or small tree for a sheltered garden. Growing up to and often higher than 3 metres, it has interesting leaves which are woolly and an interesting shape. The younger leaves seem to be more indented than older leaves, with the younger twigs also being hairy. The leaves turn a nice yellow colour in autumn before falling. Insignificant flowers appear in April to May, with orange fruits ripening by autumn if the summer weather was warm enough. We recommend growing this tree in a sheltered, sunny position. The plant can be kept pruned to keep it small, this is best done in autumn/winter.
This Paper Mulberry likes a moist, well-drained soil in sun.
